This session will explore two approaches to using video in assessment and feedback.  This panel session is jointly presented by Transforming Assessment and the Assessment in Higher Education Network (UK).

The impact and possibilities of video feedback in higher education – towards a model of care, trust, and social presence

This presentation will explore the use, impact and possibilities of Video Feedback in Higher Education towards a model of care, trust and social presence. Fostering the conditions for the design of a sustainable model in which dialogical feedback/forward can develop means the function of feedback can be mutually understood and utilised.

Video-enhanced dialogic assessment of teaching practice portfolios

Our guiding research question asks "what evidence of practice is co-constructed through the video-enhanced dialogic assessment interview process?" In this presentation, we present the Video-Enhanced Dialogic Assessment (VEDA) process and research project in the context of teacher education. VEDA can most easily be imagined as an online viva voce oral examination. We share two key case studies from the ongoing project. One focuses on the trainee teacher for whom formative video-stimulated recall, reflection and dialogue is part of their learning i.e. assessment for learning. The other case study will present the summative high-stakes VEDA interview where the assessor must be confident that all the evidence presented demonstrates that the candidate meets the necessary teachers' standards.

From Monday 11^th to Friday 15^th October, the Learning and Teaching Development team at the University of Winchester are hosting our second institutional Decolonising the Curriculum event. The event will bring together our community of staff and students to continue to explore and examine what it means to work towards diversifying and decolonising our university curricula and learning environments.

 

We invite colleagues and students from across the sector to join us for our keynotes this year. Our keynote speakers, Dr Yujun Xu (University of East Anglia) and Dr Jason Arday (Durham University), consider the work needed to decolonise our curricula, as well as the approaches we might take and the questions we must explore to dismantle racial inequity in the Academy and on our campuses.

Preparations for the 15th European Conference on Games Based Learning - (ECGBL 2021) being supported virtually by ACI and the University of Brighton, UK on 22nd – 24th September are now almost complete and we are looking forward to a successful conference. We confirm that the conference this year will be an interactive, virtual/online event.

Fwd: Practical Pedagogy Academic Development Conference (13th of September)

On the 13th of September we will be hosting a full day of academic development talks. This will all be held online via MS Teams.

There are 30 sessions with two QnA panels, and three keynotes still to be announced. These are being delivered by a broad range of experts from across the HE sector (and a dedicated set of talks on student engagement). Every talk is "practical" specifically, there is a focus on useful takeaways for educators to apply to their own practice.
