We are delighted to give details of the full programme for this years e-Assessment Question 2012.

The main theme for 2012 will be 'e-Assessment in support of qualifications, awarding and certification', with a secondary focus on innovation.

0930    Opening Plenary Session,  'e-Assessment – managing the development of robust and reliable assessment for qualifications and learning',
This opening sessions looks at how e-Assessment provides both solutions and challenges for those involved in selecting, designing and implementing e-Assessment solutions. Whether that involves managing the process to ensure rigour and reliability for qualifications, the impact on awarding and supporting learning, or working internationally, the challenges are substantial and real.

1110    e-enabling Qualifications, the rationale and challenge of e-Assessment for Awarding Organisations
The drive for Awarding Organisations and their suppliers is to find e-Assessment solutions that meet a variety of requirements and objectives. For Awarding Organisations the move to e-delivery of assessments and qualifications is obviously one to be carefully planned and understood and may deep and lasting implications. This session looks at the issues facing such bodies and how they address them and the technological challenges they present particularly when considering an ever smaller world.

The first assessment and feedback seminar in the Higher Education Academy seminar series is due to take place shortly:

 

Exploring new approaches to assessing attitudes and behaviours
6 February 2012, University of East Anglia

 

During medical training, assessment of attitudes and behaviour is carried out using a number of well-established and newly developed assessment methods. In this workshop we will be;

• debating the validity of assessing attitudes and behaviours;
• discussing the theory behind item types developed to measure attitudes and behaviours;
• exploring how item types may be adapted for use in a variety of domains outside medicine.

We hope that this workshop will be of particular interest to educators involved in subject areas where there is an interest in assessing behaviours and the ability to make valid judgments in ambiguous situations, or for educators new to healthcare education.

Seventh International Blended Learning Conference

will be hosted by the University of Hertfordshire in partnership with JISC Advance at The Fielder Centre, University of Hertfordshire, Hatfield, UK on

13th and 14th June 2012

 

The title of this year's conference is "Reflecting on our achievements – What's next for technology-enhanced learning and teaching?". The past decade has seen great innovation in technology-enhanced learning and teaching, both in the UK and internationally. The knowledge base we have as a sector is significant, but where do we go from here? The conference will once again have an international flavour and will also provide a unique opportunity to hear from the wide variety of work associated with the full range of current JISC projects and programmes; including those focussing on digital literacies, technology-enhanced assessment and feedback, curriculum design and open educational resources. Dear Colleagues,
 
The Student Learning and Teaching Network (SLTN) would like to invite you to their Annual Conference "9,000 Ways to Engage". It is being held on 28 February 2012, 9:30am – 4:00pm at Birmingham City University (City North Campus)
 
The Conference will be focusing on the diversity of initiatives, projects and opportunities that students can get involved in during their time at University.
 
With the fees rise on the horizon, the SLTN want to continue promoting a positive attitude to getting involved in Learning and Teaching, and encouraging students to creatively engage with their Institution instead of conceding to the increasingly 'consumer' stance.
 
The one day conference will encourage delegates to share their experiences of active student engagement at their home institutions, bringing together "9,000 Ways to Engage" through the course of the day.
 
The cost for delegates is only £10. We welcome staff to our events, but strongly encourage them to bring along interested students.

At a time when prevailing neo-liberal policy aims to position higher education as an economic venture and students as customers, discourses of inclusion are vital. Terms such as access, widening participation, equity, equality and diversity, and lifelong learning commonly feature in discourses of inclusion related to higher education. The shifting meanings and fluid uses of these terms serve as an indication of the increasing tensions between neo-liberal economic forces and the role of higher education in modern society.

 

Researchers and theorists, policy-makers and practitioners all have a voice in the diverse range of discourses of inclusion and much is still to be learned and understood from a sharing of their perspectives and experiences. As higher education systems across the world adapt to accommodate the needs of modern neoliberal society this international conference brings together these voices to consider the nature of inclusion.

 

The conference will examine and debate scholarly issues associated with inclusion and widening participation in higher education. It will map international perspectives on educational inclusion, report on important research findings, and develop new collaboration and joint working for the future.

 

This conference offers:

·        A full and varied programme of international peer-reviewed papers addressing key themes of Inclusive policy and practice and Student experiences and circumstances;

·        Keynote addresses from internationally renowned and influential speakers.

·        A range of opportunities facilitating the increased impact of research in inclusion, equity and widening participation.

·        An inclusive approach which supports and facilitates the presence of quality postgraduate and international research.
