Dear Academic Practice Conferences blog readers,
Just a reminder that our Call for Proposals for the 2019 UEL Learning and Teaching Symposium is open at: https://uelcelt.wordpress.com/symposium/
Closes 15th July 2019. This is a free conference to present and attend at.
Thank you to those that have already submitted!
The
2019 UEL Learning and Teaching Symposium has a theme of Connected
Students. The date of the Symposium is Thursday 19th September 2019 | #uelLTSymp19
This is an overarching theme that aims to showcase the ways in which UEL currently connects our students to innovative pedagogies, through student as partners, support services
and the industry to give a genuine and relevant career-focused curriculum that enables advance knowledge whereby students can grow and develop personally, professionally and intellectually.
We
are the collaborative partners - the ‘academic allies’ - of our students
in the pursuit of better opportunities for all. This event will
showcase your scholarly approaches to learning
and teaching that are aimed at: enhancing students’ sense of belonging and
engagement; harnessing the freedom of critical thinking; embracing the
power of knowledge; embedding the gains of work experience; and
engaging in the transgression of connectedness (connecting as equals).
We are particularly interested in decolonial praxes aimed at addressing the BAME ‘attainment gap’
Interactive sessions may address a wide range of topics related to this year’s theme, including, but not limited to:
- Connecting by Innovative Pedagogies
- Connecting with Partners (Students and Industry)
- Connecting to Live Applied Projects
- Connecting with the Community
- Connecting Research to Student Experience
If you are doing work in any of these areas and
would like to come to University Square Stratford (5 mins from
Stratford Station) to present, please submit a proposal. We may be
able to accommodate virtual presentations too.
Best wishes,
Santanu Vasant (Mr) BSc (Hons), PGCE, MA(Ed) London, SFHEA
