"Transforming practice for an authentic future"

High profile keynote speakers from the UK, USA and Australia will
address delegates at the JISC Internet Plagiarism Advisory Service's
3rd International Plagiarism Conference, which will be held 23 - 25
June 2008 at City Campus East, Northumbria University,
Newcastle-upon-Tyne, UK.



The 3rd International Plagiarism Conference, which is being managed by
Northumbria Learning, examines the challenges facing institutions as
they evolve solutions to the issue of ensuring authenticity in
learners' work in a changing information environment. The conference
will seek to consider best practice from secondary through to higher
education. The need for a cross-sectoral approach is reflected in the
joint sponsorship of the conference by JISC and the Qualifications and
Curriculum Authority (QCA).



Key themes for the conference will consider ethical use of digital
sources, approaches to engaging both learners and educators in the
process of addressing plagiarism, addressing plagiarism in web 2.0 and
emerging technologies and also subject specific perspectives on the
issue.



The conference venue, is the stunning new Northumbria University City
Campus East development. Opened in September 2007, it was recently
honoured as the Journal newspaper's North East Landmark of the Year,
and has also been praised for exceeding the requirements of new UK
green building legislation. The development currently houses the
Schools of Law, Design and the Newcastle Business School. The Campus is
easily accessible by public transport and is within walking distance of
the city centre.



Places at the conference are limited to 200, so delegates are advised to register early.

The iPED 2008 international conference invites participants to explore the Visions and Realities of three aspects of academic life:

LEADERSHIP - What "Conceptions of Leadership" do we need - and what do we have - to support globalised, competitive, multi-purpose higher education? How successful are they?

LEARNING - Which "Emergent Pedagogies" work and which do not work - and why? What new approaches are sustainable? How do teacher and learner adapt?

LITEARACY - How is "Academic Writing" being developed, introduced and evaluated. Why is it needed? How is assessment of written work changing?
