The annual conference of the UK Service-Learning and Community Engaged Learning Network will take place on Wednesday 7th July 2021, between 10am and 3pm.
This free, virtual event is aimed at SL/CEL practitioners whether in professional or academic roles. Colleagues from allied fields such as public engagement are warmly welcome to attend. The conference will provide a forum for networking and engaging with best practice and developments in the field. There will be papers in 3 themed areas:
Operational: sharing practical learning
Pedagogical: reflections on teaching & learning in the field
Innovation: sharing new initiatives or approaches
We are delighted to announce that we will have 2 keynote speakers at the conference:
Dr Lorraine McIlrath, Project Co-ordinator and Academic Staff Developer of the Community Knowledge Initiative at the National University of Ireland, Galway. Lorraine has several roles in the community and the academy related to community engaged learning and has published widely in the field of higher education and civic engagement.
Professor Alison McCartney, Professor of Political Science, Towson University, Maryland. Alison has published widely and presented at many international conferences on civic engagement, including its connections to international relations. Alison is currently a lead person in the development of a US-UK International Service-Learning Teacher Scholars Network.
