Fwd: UKCISA free online events: International Student Mental Health

International Student Mental Health: Online Events 9-11 June 2020

Next week, 9-11 June 2020, UKCISA are running a series of online sessions on International Student Mental Health including a session by Dr Heather Gray and Dr Shiv Shanmugam from Glasgow Caledonian University who will present on research that they have carried out in Scotland on student mental wellbeing and the curriculum. This is of interest to all staff supporting international students through their studies in the UK, and particularly useful for staff who wish to consider how best to adapt academic programmes (face to face and online during the Covid-19 Crisis) to ensure positive student mental wellbeing.

Events run over the three days and include:

·         an outline of the Student Minds Mental Health Charter, recently updated to address Covid-19,

·         a lively panel discussion including the OfS  and the OfS Challenge Project on International Student Mental Health,

·         a session for FE staff

·         an in-depth interview with an international student studying Global Mental Health who has great advice for institutions on how to engage international students from different cultures with mental health support.

For full details and to book to attend, go to the UKCISA website

We recently also ran a session on supporting PhD students and supervisors' mental health (a research project with Sheffield University, Glasgow University, Heriot Watt and Glasgow Caledonian) which you can watch on our website (just create a log in if you haven't used the members area of the UKCISA website before) .
