As part of the HEA ESD workshop and seminar series, please see below details of a one-day conference exploring student-staff partnerships for sustainability:
Educating global citizens: Green Academy as a vehicle for students and staff partnerships for Education for Sustainable Development
25 February 2014, University of Southampton
This conference combines expert student and staff speakers with the opportunity to simulate a UN Sustainable Development Goals summit, providing a holistic exploration of how students shape their own teaching and learning experience.
The HEA/NUS research on student attitudes to sustainability provides an excellent body of evidence that students believe sustainability should be covered by their university. This event will bring together national experts, students and staff with an interest in exploring sustainable development in the curriculum. The focus of the day however is to provide a platform for students and staff to work together to shape the embedding of ESD within the teaching and learning.
The day will end with participants taking part in an innovative simulated UN Sustainable Development Goals Summit, exploring the challenges in achieving consensus on global sustainability issues.
There is no charge to attend the seminar, but a place must be reserved. Please register online: http://www.heacademy.ac.uk/events/detail/2014/Seminars/Themes/GEN972_Southampton
