Theories of Change in the Centres for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL) Strategy
PRESENTER: Professor Murray Saunders
Director of Centre for the Study of Education and Training at Lancaster University

The talk will outline aspects of the national evaluation which explores the explicit theories of change within the CETL initiative. It will identify elements of the implicit theory that characterise the initiative and also make reference to the issue of ‘engagement’ which is at the heart of widening the effects of CETL activity.

Professor Murray Saunders is Director of CSET, (Centre for the Study of Education and Training, Department of Educational Research, Lancaster University) and Chair of Evaluation in Education and Work. He has acted as a consultant to, and undertaken a wide range of evaluation projects for, the British Council, DfES [Department for Education and Skills], DFID [Department for International Development], ESRC [The Education and Social Research Council], HEFCE [Higher Education Funding Council] and a variety of regional agencies. He has carried out evaluation and research projects in a wide range of cultural contexts, including Asia, Africa, Latin America an in the Middle East.
Currently he is working on the PALETTE project which is a EU funded initiative working on learning support for different kinds of community of practice.
