Fwd: Celebrating Learning Community in a Time of Crisis

As part of our annual Teaching and Learning conference, the Teaching Excellence Academy at the University of Hull plans to celebrate the fantastic work Higher Education Providers are doing in response to the current Covid 19 (C19) crisis.

The conference 'Celebrating Learning Community: the transformative potential of partnership working' (delivered online between Monday 29^th June and Wednesday 1^st July) will host a collection of high quality papers from across the UK and a plenary from the University of Hull Student Partnership Scheme. Professor Brendan Stone NTF (University of Sheffield) will live-stream a conversation exploring the role of higher education and partnership working in the context of C19. Professor Becky Huxley-Binns NTF, PFHEA,  Professor Graham Scott NTF, PFHEA (both University of Hull) and Debbie McVittie (WonkHE) will make up the final plenary-panel (Wednesday 1^st July, 15.30 – 16.15).  

The conference will close with Kathy Wright (Advance HE) introducing a showcase of 'HE Partnerships in a Time of Crisis'. The showcase offers individuals, departments, faculties and institutions opportunity to celebrate their work addressing the C19 crisis: for example,  Engineers at The University of Hull producing hundreds of thousands of PPE face-shields for the NHS.

The Showcase reminds us we (the HE sector) are a force for the greater good and absolutely relevant to local and regional community, and society as a whole. In a time of physical isolation, in unprecedented times, we hope this showcase allows us to remain alive to the notion that 'hope… becomes intensified when one realises it is not a solitary struggle' (Freire, 1997, p106).

We invite a SINGLE power point slide submission for each C19-response project. 

Your slide will then be curated into a stack for broadcast.

You may send your submissions to teachingexcellenceacademy@hull.ac.uk with 'Partnership Showcase' in the subject field.

When compiling your slides please follow good accessible practice (attached and http://libguides.hull.ac.uk/diverselearners)

Deadline for showcase submissions: Wednesday June 3^rd 12 noon.

Fwd: UK Service Learning / Community Engaged Learning Forum

Please hold the dates for two UK Service Learning network events hosted by Trent Institute for Learning & Teaching at Nottingham Trent University and co-curated by De Montfort University, Kings College London and University College London.

Part 1 is 6th May UK Network Event from 1.30-3.30pm - chance to get together and work through what a UK service learning network might look like. Part 2 will take place on Wednesday 20th May, from 1.30-3.30 and will focus on the global research agenda for service-learning & community engagement.
