THE THEMES FOR THIS YEAR

Partnerships:  partnerships with students as co-producers of knowledge, co-developers or co-evaluators of the curriculum or institutional policies focusing on inclusivity and evaluation.

Practices: practices designed to deepen and strengthen student learning and/or to improve academic and social integration at an institutional, course or session level and their impact on student engagement.

Policies: the development of policies to encourage SE throughout the student journey with a focus on institutional or departmental policies, their implementation and success.

Philosophies: the analysis, deconstruction and reconstruction of SE contributing to the contested meanings, interpretations and applications of SE

Footprints: 3D representations of learners' experiences
As the learning landscape continues to change and become more 'open', the learner experience is becoming less prescribed and increasingly emergent. We are interested in finding ways of 'capturing' and describing this emergent learning. In this session we will explain our approach to drawing Footprints of Emergence and discuss how this practical tool can be used by teachers and learners to better understand the learning experience. We will also encourage you to draw your own footprints.

I have attached the programme for our Student Engaged Educational Development (SEED) Conference, that will be: drawing together a range of student engagement practices from across the sector; reporting on the LFHE Small Development Project findings on Student Engagement; formally launch the Research Centre for Student Engaged Educational Development. Defining and developing your approach to employability, HEA Employability conference, 17 October, Birmingham

Please note the date of this event has changed.

Specific themes addressed will include the challenges of; embedding employability, strengthening links between universities and business, developing quality placements and measuring the impact of employability support.  As well as key note addresses, the event will also include; the launch of the HEA Employability Framework (a process for embedding employability into the curriculum), dissemination of findings from key research projects on placement activity and assessing impact of employability support, a facilitated panel discussion and a choice of workshops.

 

The cost of this workshop is £50 for attendees from HEA subscribing institutions. For those that do not belong to a subscribing institution the cost will be £100. Places can be booked online.
