Subject: Academic Developers Sharing Open Resources: CPD4HE Workshop
To: SEDA@jiscmail.ac.uk
We would be delighted to see you at our workshop, "Academic Developers Sharing Open Resources", at UCL on July 12th: http://www.ucl.ac.uk/calt/cpd4he/events/120711 .
The event is funded by the HEA and JISC UKOER programme, so there is no charge to participants and lunch will be provided.
The workshop will explore the potential of open educational resources (OERs) in developing and accrediting university teaching. David Kernohan, JISC's E-learning Manager is the guest speaker. Participants will work with learning materials developed in UCL's CPD4HE project and on their own potential OERs.
The CPD4HE project team has spent the past year developing developing the teaching materials from our PG Certificate in Learning and Teaching in HE, in order to make them freely available as Open Educational Resources (OERs). Workshop participants will receive editable copies of the resources and will be encouraged to explore how they might use them - and other OERs - in their own programmes.
However, we aim to do more than just distribute our resources. To embed OERs in HE teaching and learning, a culture of sharing and collaborative design/development is probably needed. We hope workshop participants will be interested in exploring how this might apply to the work of developing and accrediting HE teaching. The workshop will guide participants through the process of creating and releasing their own learning materials. If you have any material that you might wish to share as an OER we encourage you to bring this with you.
