Keynote speaker: Dr Berry O’Donovan [3]

Deputy Director of Assessment Standards Knowledge Exchange CETL (ASKe) and Acting Head of Learning and Teaching at the Business School (Oxford Brookes).

Her current research is focused on assessment and feedback, cultivating student community and the intellectual development of management undergraduates.

Sessions:

All sessions are practice focused and include:

  • University of Kent case studies on formative assessment practice in:
    • Self/peer assessment
    • Group work
    • Assessing practical skills
    • Using journals/reflection
  • Using technology to enhance formative assessment
Confirmed external speakers include:
  • Prof Peter Hartley, Professor of Education Development, Director of the Centre for Academic Practice and Head of the Educational Development Team, University of Bradford.
  • Dr Karen Handley, Senior Lecturer in HRM and Organisational Behaviour and a Fellow at the Brookes Centre for Teaching and Learning. Her particular interest is in student engagement with feedback.
Aim

An opportunity for staff from all departments to share practical ideas to enhance formative assessment in line with the current University enhancement theme.
