Fwd: Virtual conference on ‘Improving assessment literacy and maintaining academic standards’ on 18 June.

The Degree Standards project is running a virtual conference on 'Improving assessment literacy and maintaining academic standards' on 18 June.

The event will focus on the maintenance of academic standards and in particular on the importance of academic literacy to all HE stakeholders (including governing bodies) and the calibration of academic standards within disciplines. Of particular interest will be

  • the independent evaluation of the professional development activity on individuals, institutions and the sector
  • the new model for calibration activity devised by the Degree Standards team
  • the opportunity to contribute ideas on the further professionalization of external examiners and the maintenance of academic standards
  • the chance to hear from Professor Andrew Wathey, Vice-Chancellor of Northumbria University and chair of the UK Standing Committee for Quality Assessment, about next steps in maintaining academic standards in UK higher education.
