Join us for a day exploring learners' experiences of innovative flipped and open online curricula.

ELESIG Summer Symposium Time: June 28, 2013 all day
Location: A109, College Building
Organized By: Rhona Sharpe

Event Description:

Learners' experiences of innovative 'flipped' and 'open' curricula
A109, College Building, City University London

Arrival, registration and informal networking over a continental breakfast

Welcome and introductions

Keynote speakers:  Carl Reidsema, Lydia Kavanagh
Joining us via videoconference from University of Queensland, Carl and Lydia will talk about how they have flipped the First Year Engineering cohort's experience for 1000 students and the views from the students.

Refreshment break

Speaker and workshop session: Roy Williams and Jenny Mackness
Footprints: 3D representations of learners' experiences
As the learning landscape continues to change and become more 'open', the learner experience is becoming less prescribed and increasingly emergent. We are interested in finding ways of 'capturing' and describing this emergent learning. In this session we will explain our approach to drawing Footprints of Emergence and discuss how this practical tool can be used by teachers and learners to better understand the learning experience. We will also encourage you to draw your own footprints.

ELESIG Member's Corner
Do you have something to share? Would you like to pilot a new data collection tool? Do you have an idea for a project for an ELESIG small grant?  Would you like to find out who else is interested in your idea?
Why not ask for 5 - 15 mins with community members to share your research and practice into learners' experience of e-learning? (See booking form)

Close of symposium followed by tea and networking

15.45 – 16.45

Planning Meeting
The ELESIG Organising Committee will meet. Anyone who is interested is invited to stay to observe and/or contribute to planning future community activities.
