FW: Invitation to launch of the Centre for Global Higher Education

Invitation to launch of the Centre for Global Higher Education
The ESRC/HEFCE Centre for Global Higher Education (CGHE) is officially launching on 2-3 February in London, and is hosting two international public seminars/conferences to mark the occasion.
CGHE is the largest research centre in the world specifically focused on higher education and its future development. It has more than £6 million in funding from the Economic and Social Research Council for work over 2016-2020, and is a partnership of three UK universities and eight universities from around the world. A core focus of CGHE is maximising the impact of its work in policy and practice. It is a great opportunity to think creatively about higher education, and associated economic and social sectors, and to assist their mutual development.
The opening seminar is entitled 'Higher education in a global context', and takes place on the morning of 2 February. As well as a short ceremony formally opening the work of the new Centre, this will examine access to higher education, global trends in science and world university rankings, and the challenges and prospects for higher education in Asia and the implications for the UK.
The second day's seminar is entitled 'Fostering the impact of higher education and research'. It takes place on the afternoon of 3 February. This will be a discussion forum focused specifically on the notion and practice of 'impact' in higher education and research, designed to engage higher education stakeholders.
CGHE's team of national and international researchers will be on hand and participating throughout both events.
Lunch and refreshments are included on both days.
The conference is free and open to all but registration is essential. Register now at
