This event will be hosted by Professor Carol Costley: Associate Dean, Research Institute for Work Based Learning and Jonathan Garnet: Professor of Work Based Knowledge and the Director of the Institute for Work Based Learning at Middlesex University

 

Middlesex University was part of a HEFCE programme that had two related goals - the design and delivery of HE courses in partnership with employers, and to increase the number of learners in the workplace supported by their employers. Carol Costley is Professor of Work Based Learning and Head of the Work Based Learning research centre at Middlesex University.

Principal research interests include examining methodologies and epistemologies in work based learning and how they are additional to and support subject based approaches to knowledge. Within that looking particularly at work based learning as a field of study, especially transdisciplinarity, equity and access.

 

Jonathan Garnett is Professor of Work Based Knowledge and the Director of the Institute for Work Based Learning at Middlesex University.

Jonathan has twenty years experience at the leading edge of the development of work based learning programmes with public and private sector organizations in the UK and internationally.
Areas of expertise include Work Based Learning in Higher Education, developing the intellectual capital of employers, assessment of work based learning, assessment of learning from experience, higher education/employer partnerships.
