Fwd: Disparities in Student Attainment Conference

Dear Colleagues

May I draw your attention to the following one day conference?

Touching Hearts and Minds: Tackling Disparities in Student Attainment

18 June 2012, 10am – 4.00pm

Coventry University Techno Park

Conference Outline

The Disparities in Student Attainment (DiSA) programme (www.wlv.ac.uk/disa) has been funded by the HEA and investigated by the Universities of Wolverhampton and Coventry, under the direction of Professor Glynis Cousin and Dr Gurnam Singh.  The programme has produced a wealth of findings about how disparities in student attainment can arise; the most evident of these revolving around the quality of relationships that students have with their lecturers. The Hearts and Minds Conference (June 18th) presents this finding in depth, exploring all aspects of student and lecturer relationships, the impact this has on attainment and thus the attainment gap.  The day will also provide the opportunity to explore theoretical issues relating to the framing of the issue and post-race approaches.
